A Foodie’s Delight
If good looks was a minute/ You know that you could've been an hour- Smokey Robinson, 'The Way You Do The Things You Do'
I like a good meal, but I’m not foodie. If you ask me what I most want to eat, I’d say a steak burrito at La Pasadita on the EAST side of Ashland. Or a dog at Hot Doug’s on California. Or the lunch buffet at Chi Tung’s in my hometown, Evergreen Park. None of them are too fancy. But that’s just what I like. In this video, Andrew Bourdain dines at the outer edge of fine cuisine at El Bulli with chef Ferran Adria. The meal is like something out of a Victorian sci-fi novel.
Apple caviar. Carrot orange foam. Pastaless split pea ravioli. Adria brings science into the kitchen. Bourdain and his companion are so giddy and excited over this food it’s like children at Christmas. If you too would like to try out El Bulli, start saving now. According to various web sites, meals there cost anywhere from $320 to $375 per person.
